BIG MAMA is specifically set up to cater for the intrepid traveller who wants to see and do new things away from the masses.

There are only so many days in the year that we can operate. When we are not on extended charters BIG MAMA stays busy taking guests on day trips to a small, beautiful and very remote lodge on the Bloomfield River for day trips.

We, the owners of BIG MAMA, all actually work on BIG MAMA. We love to sail, fish and dive. Our paid crew are "locals" rather than backpackers or transient labour on a working holiday. It makes our operation as much a lifestyle as livelihood. This benefits the guest - having local highly experienced and enthusiastic crew makes a huge difference in the quality of service and depth of experience.

We don't use travel agents and we don't have printed literature or advertising budgets. More than half of our annual extended charter business comes via word-of-mouth referrals or actual repeat business. The rest come from this site - our only advertising.

The point of this site is to help the potential guest get the information they need to make a good decision.

The owners and crew won't have any fun if the guests don't. Whic probably explains why to date we have a 100% guest satisfaction record. This has just as much to do with finding the right guests as it does with the product itself.
